The Andy snapper method move first, explain later

Andy Snapper isn’t your typical recovery coach, he’s part physical therapist, part prankster, part outdoor creature, and he has one rule “If you’re stiff, inflamed, or grumpy, nature is your prescription with zero side effects (unless you count muddy boots).” The secret weapon? an old camera. (although a mobile device would be recommended in this modern era).

Dave’s story, recovery by accident

Dave was burned out, Office job, stiff back, and lots of energy drinks for breakfast. Whenever Andy recommended stretching or walking, Dave replied, “I’m way too busy for that, besides i’m always  knackered.” So Andy handed him a camera yes, a proper, old school camera and said: “Take one photo of the most beautiful thing you can find this week, I’ll give you a bonus points if it surprises me.” Dave rolled his eyes, but he put a lot of thought about where? how? and when? he managed to get out and got his photo too…and that’s when everything started to change.

What actually happened?

During his mission to get a good photo Dave:

  • Walked more than usual
  • Got sunlight and fresh air
  • Noticed beauty (which triggers dopamine)
  • Moved his body gently
  • Engaged his ECS through movement and presence

His body shifted from shutdown to connection not because of lectures, but because of a light hearted challenge.

Why this method works

Recovery is easier when it:

  • Feels fun, not clinical
  • Is anchored in purpose (to take the photo)
  • Happens without resistance

Your ECS loves when movement and mindfulness are wrapped in curiosity and humour, you don’t need perfect technique you just need to show up.

Your task

  • Pick a day this week
  • Go outside. Walk, wander, sit doesn’t matter
  • Find something beautiful or interesting
  • Take a photo

Optional task post your photo in the course forum, bonus points for unexpected finds.

Key takeaways

  • The best recovery tools feel natural and non-intimidating
  • Storytelling, humour, and curiosity can kickstart serious healing
  • You don’t need to do a “rehab plan,” you just need to engage your ECS

Reflection

If you had to trick yourself into being more active this week, what would your “Andy Snapper” method be?
